RECENT SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT'S TESTIMONIALS...

Courtney Gavin:

Thanks to the proceeds from the Legends of Pharmacy golf tournament, I was able to receive one of the NMPhA scholarships awarded this past year. My name is Courtney Gavin (Class of 2020) and I am from Las Cruces, New Mexico. I completed my undergraduate studies at New Mexico State University. Since pharmacy school was my first experience away from home, I had to adjust quite a bit to living on my own. I picked up additional costs along the way as well, including pharmacy school tuition, living expenses, and membership fees for organizations I had been interested in. Because of this scholarship, I have been able to pay off almost 4 months of rent, which allowed me to focus more on my schooling. I cannot express how grateful I am that I was able to receive financial support this past year. After graduation, I plan to move back to southern New Mexico and build up my experience as a recent graduated pharmacist and continue to pursue clinical work to maintain my clinical skills. I also plan to give back to my universities in scholarship donations, in hopes that I impact lives the way this scholarship has impacted mine.

Troylyn Knipfing:

As a first-generation college student, I have learned that your successes are not just your own, but your family’s as well. I am from a small town named San Rafael, New Mexico and throughout my life I grew up around the constant influence of pharmacy as my grandfather battled many illnesses from working in the uranium mines. I know first-hand how pharmacy can improve someone’s quality of life through the life saving medicines that pharmacist provide every day. This has led me to become the first person in my family to go to college, and subsequently enroll into pharmacy school with the goal of specializing in Geriatrics through residency. The NMPhA scholarship has allowed me to advance one step further towards this dream, and has validated that all my hard work, as well as the sacrifices of my entire family has been worth it.

Esther Nalamlieng:

My family and I would like to thank the donors of the NMPhA scholarship fund. As a recipient of one of the scholarships, I would like you to know that not only has your generous donation helped to lighten my financial load during school, but it has truly impacted my entire little family. Receiving this extra money to use towards groceries, utilities or fuel to get to/from school allows me to worry less about financial strain and helps to reduce the amount of outside stress, which makes for a more stress-free environment at home and with my family. Please know that when you support the UNM COP by providing scholarship funds such as this, you are not only impacting the student but their entire family. Thank you for investing my future career.
Best,  Esther, Shaun, Penelope and baby
