Pharmacy technicians are expected to be in continued demand. The number of jobs should continue to increase. Pharmacy technicians work closely with pharmacists and other health care professionals in a number of settings like retail, hospital, and long-term care facilities.
How to be become a pharmacy technician in New Mexico:
- Register with the NM Board of Pharmacy. Forms are available at
- You must be nationally certified or become certified within a year of registering.
- Pharmacy technician certification is done through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

Certified Pharmacy Technician licensure renewal:
- A CPhT must renew his or her license every two years. Some of the renewal requirements have changed in the past few years so check the PTCB website for current requirements:
